Church Update, July 17

Dear Church Family,

It is our hope that you all find yourselves content and of the same mind, ever waiting “for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13)

We are writing to inform you that our service for this coming Sunday, July 19th will be held indoors. After deliberating what steps to take in view of the new order that took effect on Monday, July 14th, we decided that it would be easier to maintain the guidelines holding our service in the sanctuary. Even though the executive orders explicitly exempt houses of worship and will not prosecute them, we do not want to give offense to anyone, ‘whether Jews or Greeks or the church of God’ [1 Cor 10:32]”

Please remember that it is recommended that we keep a “safe space” between people who are not members of your household while in public outdoors, and if this proves difficult, we are required to wear a face-covering.  When indoors outside of our homes, we are required to wear face-coverings as well. Since we started celebrating our worship service outdoors, we have had a great time of fellowship and enjoying each other’s company. You probably have noticed that it is difficult for us to maintain the recommended distance since we do see ourselves as family and it is a joy for us to be together. For this reason, we think it would be better to meet indoors and avoid “exercising our liberties in public and causing others to stumble”.

Please wear your face-covering when walking into the building and as you proceed to the sanctuary. There will be someone at the door and our ushers will instruct us where to sit. Once we are seated with our families and we are at a safe distance from others, we may lower the face-covering. Please treat this as if it were a dining experience, since it certainly is a time of feasting on God’s word, which is more necessary for us than bread itself. If you need to use the restroom, kindly reposition the face-covering until you return to your pew. Upon finishing the service, resume using the covering before leaving the building and wear it until you are in your vehicle.

For those of you who do not wish to be with others who may lower their masks, we will reserve the overflow room for you if you wish to wear your mask during the entire time you are in the building. Let’s be respectful and allow those who wish to wear the mask the space and freedom they need to feel comfortable in the service. The overflow room, which is normally our Sunday School room will be reserved for this purpose. Please do not enter this room unless you plan to remain in it wearing your mask for the duration of the service.

This will be a new experience for us and for that reason we have decided not to serve any snacks or beverages after the service. Let’s practice this a couple of Sundays so that we can see what we need to do in order to provide more fellowship after the service, as is our custom.

If, for whatever reason, you are not able to attend this Sunday, we will be live streaming the service and you’ll have access to the stream by visiting the church website or by clicking on this link:

Thank you so much, dear church family. You have been a great support and have shown great love. May God continue to bless us all with His great love in Christ our Savior, for this is His sure promise.

Yours in Christ,

Samuel S. Alvarado and Council
